Mesqutite Valley FK Sonoran Sun is due to freshen on March 17, 2023 and will be nearly 2 years old. This will be her first freshening and she will also be DesertNanny TC French Kiss‘ first daughter to freshen. I’m especially excited to see what she blossoms into because her dam is Mesquite Valley S Sundae which made the Elite List as a first freshener. Sonora’s sire’s dam, was a Grand Champion in the show ring and was also quite a good performer in the milk pail. I’m expecting/hoping that she will perform as well (or better) as her dam in the milk pail with a better udder. Her rear arch has given me great hopes for what is to come.
Sonora was paired with Redstone Fastbreak Sundevil. Sundevil comes from very strong and productive dairy lines where the dams are producing over 1100+ pounds of milk in a 305 day lactation. Redstone lines often milk for 2 years from one kidding so persistence of lactation I expect will be stellar in these kids especially since Sonora’s dam, Sundae, was also in lactation for a year and half as a first freshener.
